A veterinary physician, colloquially called a vet, shortened from veterinarian or veterinary surgeon , is a professional who practices veterinary medicine by treating disease, disorder, and injury in non-human animals. A vet typically takes care of all animals and conducts surgical procedures on these animals. Vets work in a veterinary hospital and work about 9 hours a day depending on if they are on call. To be a vet, you must have a veterinary doctorate in college and 4 extra years in med school.
