Democracy- Any form of government in which political power is exercised by all citizens, either directly or through their elected representatives.

Direct- All citizens participate in government. example: Switzerland

Representative- Like direct democracy, all citizens participate in government. Ex: USA

Autocracy- A form of government in which political power is controlled by one individual such as a monarch, dictator, emperor, etc.

Monarch- Rule by kings, queens, princes, and princesses… sometimes by other names, but always MONARCHS! Example: England

Absolute Monarch- monarchical form of government in which themonarch has absolute power among his or her people. Example: Saudi Arab

Constitutional Monarch- form of government in which a king or queen acts as Head of State. Example: Belgium

Dictatorship- taken by power. Example: Germany

Theocracy- ruled by God or higher power. Example: Greece

Oligarchy- ruled by few. Example: India  

Anarchy- No government at ALL!! Example: Somalia

Communism- Communism is a political and economic system in which the major productive resources in a society—such as mines, factories, and farms—are owned by the public or the state, and wealth is divided among citizens equally or according to individual need. Example: Vietnam
