ONCE Upon A Time Season 4 Episode 15 SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!
It seems like Once Upon a Time is dead set on bringing back characters from the ashes this season, and on Sunday, that honor went to August Booth.
Although the scruffy, motorcycle-riding character didn't fully die — he was brought back to life as his 7-year-old self, Pinocchio — August was seemingly gone for good after Tamara killed him in Season 2. But in Sunday's episode, "Enter the Dragon," he was transformed to his older self by Rumplestiltskin after the Dark One got his dagger back. Crazier yet, Rumple got the dagger from Belle — she just didn't know she was handing it over to her former love. But before those revivals of life and love could happen, a lot went down with the Queens of Darkness and Regina in the past and present.
The Queens of Darkness become an evil quartet
It seems that becoming a Queen of Darkness is just like becoming part of a fraternity: there's hazing, downing shots of liquor and destroying things. As Regina worked to earn the trust of Ursula, Maleficent and Cruella de Vil, they drank, played a game of chicken on the train tracks and wrecked a sheriff's car in the forest. The next day, Regina looked hungover as hell and had to face Mary Margaret and David, who weren't too happy to see that she had caused a great deal of destruction but uncovered no intel.
At this point, all Regina knows is they are hiding something big and magical. And, naturally, Emma is none too pleased when she finds out about the big plan developed behind her back that put Regina in danger.
Maleficent and Regina's fiery past
Back in the Enchanted Forest, we discover that Regina and Maleficent met through an accidental matchmaking by Rumple.
Rumple sends Regina to Maleficent's castle to learn from the evil witch, assuming she'll come running back soon, but that's not exactly what happens. At first glance, Maleficent is a hot mess; her hair is actually crimped, she can't turn into a dragon or create fire anymore, and she's shooting up drops of Sleeping Curse to get by. But things change once Regina discovers Sleeping Beauty's daughter, Aurora, is getting married. Two happily ever afters just will not do, they think. Two happily ever afters just will not do, they think.
Regina literally reignites Maleficent's passion for magic as they both seek out revenge — Maleficent on Aurora and Regina on Snow White — but no one dies. Instead, Maleficent vows to Aurora that she has a "special curse in mind for Prince Philip," Regina puts Snow's precious horse to sleep, and Maleficent thanks Regina for reminding her of who she once was.A twisted Rumbelle reunion
In the secondary storyline of the night, Hook tried to convince Belle to move the Dark One dagger somewhere no one will find it, just in case Rumple comes back or the Queens of Darkness try to use it.
It all seemed suspicious, considering he interrupted her date with Will and led her out to a remote location in Storybrooke, but he seemed genuine, so Belle didn't question it.
Just as Hook is about to take the dagger and bury it, Belle asks, "What if Rumple's already here? This is my only protection." His solution is for her to command Rumple to come face her, but no one appears. The reason, viewers discover after Belle drives away, is because Rumple transformed himself into Hook, so he was already standing right in front of her.
Yep, we got a Rumbelle reunion, but she'll never know.Later, they had a moment to touch when Hook had them "swear a pirate's oath" to never talk about the dagger with each other or anyone else. They place their hands on each other's hearts and give their word.
Hearts 'round the world broke when "Hook" took a moment to ask if things are serious between Will and Belle. She summed it up simply, saying that Will makes her smile, and that's all that matters.
Meanwhile, the Queens of Darkness continue testing Regina in bigger and badder ways, ending with Maleficent asking her to kidnap Pinocchio so they can try to torture information out of him. Although she hesitates — and has a heartfelt moment with Emma, who was tracking her to make sure she stayed safe — she ultimately delivers the boy. In the process, she ditches Emma by dropping her phone outside of Marco and Pinocchio's home with a note that says, "I got this."
Lone wolf as always.Lone wolf as always.
Maleficent then leads Regina to Rumple's cabin, and before long, he's emerging out of the darkness — with his dagger. He promises not to hurt young Pinocchio, mostly because there's no amount of torture that will make him remember anything about August's life. So to solve their problem, he waves the dagger and transforms Pinocchio back into August.OK, now we're all ready for some answers.
