Early space exploration
The first artificial, man made, satellite was Sputnik. Created by the USSR and it was launched in October 4, 1957. This started the "Space Race", after sputnik was launched the US launched it's own satellite, explorer 1.
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
NASA was created in July 29, 1958. NASA was created. NASA does a lot of different things. NASA makes satellites. The satellites help scientists learn more about Earth. NASA sends probes out into space. NASA scientists study things in the solar system, and even farther away. People at NASA work on ways to make air travel better for everyone on Earth, too. People at NASA also share the things they learn with others. This can help make life on Earth better.
The Apollo program was started in 1961 and ended in 1675. The program had a total of 17 mission. 12 manned mission and 5 probe and satellite launches. That collects information about the moon like a suitable landing site and rock samples.
Apollo 11 was the first mission to send a man to the moon and return him back to Earth safely. The mission consisted three crew member, Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Micheal Collins. Neil Armstrong was the first man to step on the moon and said "One small step for man and one giant leap for man kind." Soon after Neil Armstrong step down he was followed by Buzz aldrin. While Michael Collin remain in the camand module revolving around the moon.
Problems with space travel
There are some problems or obstacles with space exploration. First of all there's radiation that comes from the stars such as out sun. The radiation damages or skin cell making them weaker and weaker. The next problem is microgravity. This is where there is very little amount of gravity, hence the name microgravity. Microgravity cause you to float around this might seem fun, but this causes over time health problems. It cause your bones to be brittle and your muscles to shrink. Once you take one step outside. You could shatter your legs. This is huge problem for astronauts when they are exploring space for a long period of time
Future of space travel
Space travel can be a important part of our society in the future. We can use it travel to other solar system and maybe even meet to life forms. Space travel can also be a way for us to travel to another habitable planet when our Earth dies or our sun. But for right we can only do short missions and use satellites and probes to study our universe. Once we figure out a way to space travel and explore new worlds safely our society would change.
