Areas of Expertise
Leadership- Led the AVID Site Team for 14 years while also serving on the school leadership team.
Differentiating Instruction- Able to create lessons geared to different learning styles and ability levels, especially at the high school level.
Teaching Higher Level Thinking Skills- Through AVID, Bloom's Taxonomy was used daily. Students were also taught to use these skills.
Presentations to Faculty/Parents- Able to create and present presentations to groups. Staff development and parent meetings were planned 5-9 times per year.
Collaborative/Team Player- Look forward to collaborating with teachers to plan lessons that will stimulate students. Due to AVID experience, I am familiar with ALL areas within the high school and understand the different needs and curriculums of ALL departments.
Planning- Have planned banquets, field trips for 120 students, professional development activities, family workshops, AVID Site Team Meetings, Relay for Life Fundraisers, Chicken plate fundraiser, AVID Club, SADD (Students Against Drinking and Driving) Club, Adopt a Highway with 150 students

Why am I the Perfect Candidate?
My love for books and teaching has brought me to this point in my career. After teaching mathematics for 23 years, I felt it was time for a change and I wanted to do something in which I could have a bigger impact. The library is the heart of any school and using the AVID training I have participated in over the years will make me an asset and afford me the ability to creatively plan lessons that will stimulate children while fostering their love for reading. I also have enough technology experience that the students and teachers would never lack for resources.
I organized the AVID seniors into groups that tutored at Forest Hills Middle School, Springfield Middle School, and Vinson Bynum Elementary School.
I had the opportunity to visit a school library recently. I took a few pictures to share the vision I have for the School Media Center. I have a vision of students flocking to the library to get the newest book. With student iPads/Chromebooks and the availability of e-books (which can easily differentiate instruction), there is no reason for students to not enjoy reading.
