Frederick "Fritz" Friebel
Friebel was an avid angler who carried his tackle with him everywhere he went as he traveled around the Sunshine State, selling hardware. Friebel was one of the only fisherman at the time and loved it. In 1923 he caught a 20 lb. 2 oz. large mouth bass in a small Florida lake. It is still Florida's largest large mouth bass ever caught. The state of Florida Fritz's catch as its first record bass.
The fish was caught out of 'Big Fish Lake', about 12 miles north of San Antonio. Frederick is still known today for the record.
