Hunt High School
Project purpose: to Become more familiar with a potential career and a college that would allow me to get this degree
My main goal is to become a physical therapist, specializing in prosthetic's. They help people with learning how to use prosthetic limbs and helping your body get use to them. I have always had an interest in prosthetic's and how they work. Physical Therapists make on average about $86,520 per year, but the highest they could make is about $100,000 per year. It will take me about seven years to finish my classes in college and receive my doctoral degree.
East Carolina University
East Carolina University is located in Greenville, North Carolina. The tuition for living on campus would be about $10,608 including room and board. The tuition for not living on campus would be about $3,758. The ratio of undergraduate students to teachers at this college is about 18:1. If my plan to go to ECU doesn't work out, I could also attend Duke Universi, University of North Carolina, or Elon University to still pursue my dream of Physical Therapy. This career does not require a high school chemistry class, but it will required to receive my degree. To get this degree I will also need a minimum high school GPA of at least a 3.5.
Required Courses and a Plan B
There are some classes that I could take in high school to better prepare myself for this field in college. These classes include Advanced Algebra & Trigonometry, Chemistry & Biology, and Physics. If I end up not enjoying this career as I am expecting too, I would also be interested in trying out Marine Biology/Animal therapy, Psychology, or Anatomy/Cell biology.
