When In Rome
I recently found out that I was accepted to travel abroad this spring break for a week in Rome, Italy! It is a dream come true and I could not be more thrilled. I have always known that given the chance, I would travel around the world someday. Rome has always been at the top of the list. I am eager to immerse myself in the Italian culture and learn about their history in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Here are just a few of the places I am most excited to see.
The Trevi Fountain
As silly as it may seem, I first fell in love with the Trevi Fountain when I was 11-years-old watching The Lizzie McGuire Movie. If you are a fan like me you'll remember she went on a class trip to Rome and was mistaken as an Italian pop star. The Trevi Fountain is one of the first places she visits in Rome and tosses a coin in, making a wish.
To me, when you think of Rome, you think of the Colosseum. It is the largest amphitheatre in the world and was estimated to hold between 50,000 and 80,000 people.
Vatican City is home of the Pope and the Catholic Church. It is located in the middle of Rome, but is considered a different entity. It is the smallest independent nation in the world. I hope to see as much of it as possible and admire all of the beautiful architecture located there. I especially hope I get a chance to see the Sistine Chapel.
The Spanish Steps
The Spanish Steps is another big tourist attraction that I've fallen in love with while watching movies. The Piazza di Spagna is located at the bottom. It is one of the most famous squares in the city.
I could keep going, but I am starting to get way too excited! I hope to upload my own pictures from these gorgeous places when I am back and also of many more sites that I will see!
