Machiavelli lived in Florence, Italy. He was an Italian historian, politician, diplomat, philosopher, humanist, and writer who died on June 21, 1527 at age 58.

In 1502 he married Marietta Corsini. They had four sons and two daughters. His grandson, Giovanni Ricci, is credited with saving many of Machiavelli's letters and writings.

His religion was western philosophy. He wrote a book called The Prince.
