The University of West Virginia

By Cameron Seabrook

I selected the university of West Virginia because when I was younger we had a presenter come in from the university telling us that the school has an excellent nursing program and ever since I've envisioned attending the school. The school is ranked 93 out of the whole nation. It has an awesome athletic program too!

A brief history of the schoool

The school was founded in 1867, the school's original name was Agricultural College of West Virginia before it was changed in 1868. When the school opened it was an all male, all white school but later on became an equal opportunity school to provide education to all ethnicities.

Campus Life

The university of West Virginia is located in Morgan town West Virginia. The university's clubs and organizations has a number of different festivities and events happening year-round, events are open to the public as well. There's even a program called Adventure WV! It's a program dedicated to outdoor activities.

My Career path

Well ever since I was a little kid, I used to get hurt a lot. Always in the hospital or with band-aids on me somewhere, but I always liked messing around with medical equipment. I also like helping people, whether it being mentally or physically. So thats why I wanted to be a nurse.

I would like to attend the university of West Virginia and obtain my bachelors in nursing. However it is a four year program but it could be a two year if you already achieved your associates degree.

Career Visuals

Being an emergency room nurse, you see a number of different situations, ranging from something minor to something very serious. Someone could come in with a common cold or a serious heart attack. It's kinda like a mystery cause you'll never know what is gonna go through that door.

Career Description

A nurse can make anywhere from $45,000 to $95,000 so it is a well paying job. Full-time nurses work about 40 hours in a week. A nurse is in charge of making sure that any patients that come in are stabilized until a doctor examines and clears them. Nurses receive benefits such as health insurance, paid sick days as well as a paid vacation. Being paid on the hour can range from $26.91 to $31.97 but it really comes down to if you've been promoted or not.
