α Centauri

Alpha Centauri is 4.35 light years away from Earth. It's a yellow star (G2) just like our Sun and it has a tempeture of 5800k. This star is slightly larger than our sun with a mass of 1.09 and a radius of 1.2 relative to the Sun. Alpha Centauri is approximetly 5-6 billion years old.

Alpha Centauri is the 3rd closest star to the Sun after Sirius and Canapus, though its the closest star system unlike Sirius and Canapus which dont have a system. This star system is actually a trinary star system since it is comprimised out of three stars. These stars are called Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, and Alpha Centauri C, alo reffered to as Proxima because its the closest to us out of the three. A and B orbit each other while C  is distant and is questioned if it is actually part of this star system.
