Harry Potter
and the
Sorcerer's Stone

A Book Review By LM

I recently (re-re-re-re-re)read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the first book in the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, and I really liked it (again). Harry Potter is a seemingly normal boy who lives with his abusive aunt, uncle, and cousin. But when mysterious and disturbing events are explained by a stranger named Hagrid, including how he is a famous hero for defeating the unconquered, horrendous being Lord Voldemort as an infant, Harry's life is turned upside-down as he goes to attend the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, Harry makes new friends (and enemies), struggles through magical classes, and discovers his love for the sport Quidditch. But Voldemort, who has been forced into hiding, is determined to track down Harry and regain the power he lost. What is Professor Quirrel hiding? Can he trust his new friends Ron and Hermione? Will Harry find the Sorcerer's Stone?
