Minnesota WPA Golf Courses
Built During the Great Depression (1935-1942)
During the Great Depression, there was this federal program called the Works Progress Administration (WPA for short). Men and women were paid to work on public projects. Many of recognize these projects as dams, bridges, but not golf courses, which was something they did.
In Minnesota, the WPA crews build about a dozen courses and worked on at least that many more. This site is dedicated to finding and chronicling what info is out there.
