Things in space
What is astronomy?
Astronomy is the branch of science deals that deals with celestial objects, space, and physical universe as a whole. Its the study of the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, gas, gas, galaxies, dust and other non- earth bodies and phenomena. Astronomy is the science of space beyond earths atmosphere.
The origin of the solar system
The origin of the solar system is estimated to have begone 4.6 billion years ago with the gravitation collapse of a small part of giants molecular cloud.
How are the planets grouped?
The planets of the modern solar system are grouped into several different and sometimes overlapping classifications. The planets inside the orbit of the earth are called the inferior planets;mercury and venus. Scientifically the planets are divided between two main types. terrestrial and jovian.
What properties do the planets share?
The properties that the planets share is that they are made of gases.another one is that they are huge in size. These outer planets are Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune.
Why is Pluto not a planet?
Pluto is no longer a planet because it does not dominate its neighborhood. Charon, its large moon is only about half the size of Pluto, while all the truth planets are far larger than their moon.
How did the moon form?
The moon formed after a mars sized protoplanet (a young planet not yet fully formed), collide with the early earth over 4 billion years ago. This massive collision produced debris that eventually coalesced due to gravitational forces to form the moon.
What is a star?
A star is a fixed luminous piont in the nightsky that is a large, remote incandescent body like the sun. The nearest star to the earth is the sun. The sun is the source of most of the planets energy.
Why do the stars seem to change their positions?
The visible motion of the stars is due to the motion of the earth. The stars remain in the same position relative to each other, but seen to more across our sky because the earth itself is moving around the sun.
What is the difference between meteoroids and asteroids
The difference between meteoroids and asteroids is that meteoroid is a small body moving the solar system. And asteroid is a small rock body orbiting the sun.
How do earths motion effect the appearance of other celestial observation?
The only real physical effect the moon has on earth is regulating the tide. Because the moons orbit is elliptical, at certain points, the moon moves closer and further away from the earth, resulting in the tide rising and falling. It works much in the same way as the earths gravity pushing and pulling one another.
