ERIN SLAGERMAN

IM1 SECTION 1

*The move "Cars" was released in 2006. It was produced by Pixar, but distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. In the picture above, you may have recognized this image from the movie. It is motel where the cars stayed over night. Otherwise known as a cozy cone. If each cone could only fit one car, then how big are they?

*To find the surface area of a cone you use the formula below:

*The surface area for the cone would be 235.5 ft squared including the base and 157 ft squared not including the base.

*To find the volume of the cone you use the formula below; however, "h" is the hypotenuse or side length of the cone. In this case, the hypotenuse would be about 8.7ft.

*The volume for the cone would be about 227.65 ft cubed.

FUN FACTS

*If you put me in a cozy cone, then my head would be about 3.2 inches away from the top.

*If I were the shape of a box of 5.5 by 1.5 by 0.5, then you could fit me in a cozy cone about 55 times.

**Steve Jobs previously owned pixar. If you look at the white car closely, then you can see the apple logo along with the number 84. In 1984, the first Mac Book came out.
