Maverick Message

Dear Parents:

We made it five full days of school this week. I enjoyed seeing all the eager faces back and ready to learn. It is really hard to believe that Spring Break starts next week. Where has this semester gone? I feel like I have 1504 things to do before this week is over to catch up from all the days that we have missed.

Once again, it was a very busy week at Mill Creek. On Tuesday. we welcomed visitors from the visiting accreditation team. We received extremely positive feedback about our classroom instruction and school climate. I want to extend a huge thank you to the teachers, staff, and parents who served on this committee this year. Also, the teachers and staff did a great job getting ready for the visiting team.

Our book fair began last week...and oh the excitement about new books! That warmed my heart to see such a love for reading. It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents visiting to shop with our students.

The students of Mill Creek were busy too. From archery tournaments, to math tournaments, to science fair competition, to getting ready for drama performances...Mill Creek was buzzing this week. On March 7th, 70 of our students attending an aviation STEM field trip called Fly Quest at the North Alabama airport. I loved listening to what our students had to share about that trip. You can see one of our students being interviewed on WHNT here.

Here is a Flipagram made by Makayla Lilavois, one of our 5th grade students about the trip.

I want to offer some congratulations to some of our students this week!
