France
France has many  rules or dining customs. One of the customs for France is that the host must make the first toast. The host must also say "Bon appetit!" before anybody can start eating. Another custom for France is to always pass dishes to your left. Finally, in France you may only eat bread, sandwiches, and asparagus with your hands.

We found it surprising that in France you can only eat bread, sandwiches, and asparagus with your hands. This differs from the United States because in the U.S. you may eat bread, sandwiches, pizza, fried chicken, etc. with your hands but we do not usually eat asparagus with our hands. You must know the dining etiquette in another country before traveling there so that you do not offend anyone.
