Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing. Abraham Lincoln

As the virus grew in numbers so did its reputation. From the beginning of the 1980's the aids virus had grew into a full blown epidemic causing mass hysteria amongst the population.

The absence of information on the subject, translated into fear from the virus and the main demographic tied to this virus "the homosexuals". This same fear caused many people to blame the gay's of having brought this virus spewing hate based on ignorance and religious beliefs. As the years past, the aids virus grew stronger in number and with it so did homophobia.

Being permanently tainted by the aids virus, the gay community's started being exiled from a scared delusional society. Hate crimes grew in numbers as well as "gay bashing" against the LGBT community. People who were suspected of being gay were kicked out of there apartment, did not receive medical treatment at hospital's and were even beaten brutally on the Streets!

This stereotypical view of the aids virus is the reason why people are not concerned, they still think it is mainly a gay virus . It is the reason why people are still transmitting the disease recklessly . By allowing this fitly unrealistic view of the aids virus people often wont bother with helping this cause thinking they are invincible if they are straight ! One way to promote the stopping of the aids virus is by information, if more people actually knew the treat that aids is to our generation I truly believe people would be more involved or at least cover their tool instead of being a fool.

As we inform the new generation of the real facts about the aids virus, the stereotypical reputation based of Ignorance and the events of the 1980's will slowly die off. The new more informed generation will be equipped to deal with this situation through there knowledge of the virus and how to protect yourself against it as well as treat it.Nearly 36 million people have died for aids since the outbreak. This could reduce significantly the spreading of the disease and diminished the mortality rate of aids infected people. After all, it is bad enough that people are dying of AIDS, but no one should die of ignorance.
