Reasons to properly type

Typing properly can lead to good health, improving productivity, kids can become more independent,prepares for job opportunities, it's easier to learn when you are young, improves literacy, and to learn properly before bad habits form.

Hand Position

Keep your wrists low, but not touching the keyboard or table. Curve your fingers upright and lightly touch the keys with your finger tips.

Body Position

Sit up straight, and face the keyboard with the center of your body. Sit a comfortable distance from the keyboard, and place your feet flat on the floor, or propped up.


Elbows and knees should be positioned at 90-110 degrees.

Sit at least 24 inches away from the screen.

Take frequent breaks, and avoid a glare on your screen.


Keyboarding is the ability to enter text by using the correct fingers without looking at the keys. Having adequate skills will enable you to use the computer more often and more productively.

Keyboard Layout

The row of function keys across the top is used for compute commands.

The most common keyboard arrangement is the QWERTY keyboard.

An optional keypad can be requested at the smaller section in the right.

The control portion consists of the alphanumeric keys

CARPAL tUNNEL syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist.

Preventing CTS: At the workplace, workers can do on-the-job conditioning, perform stretching exercises, take frequent rest breaks, wear splints to keep wrists straight, and use correct posture and wrist position.
