Yin and yang are important to Confucianism. Yin means darkness and yang means lightness. This symbol represents opposites that are coming together. For example, if a bad thing happens, something good will come out of it, like if a volcano explodes many people, animals, and plants will die, but it will also create fertile soil for plants to thrive in. In Chinese culture, yin and yang are not viewed as opposing enemies, they are viewed as 2 very different things who complement eachother.
