Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was born in Kentucky on February 12, 1809, and died April 15, 1865. He was born into a poor family and worked hard on his family farm.
Abraham Lincoln was president during the Civil War. The north and the south did not agree on slavery. He made the decision to fight to prevent the nation from splitting apart. The north won the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln is known as the Great Emancipator because he freed the slaves.
