The story of Christianity begins about 2,000 years ago in Roman occupied, Palestine. Today some of this area forms part of the state of Israel. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Bethlehem today is a bustling city of 30,000 people. The church of Initiality is a famous spot for Christians, it is believed that it was built where Jesus was born. Around the time of Jesus there was a man known as, John the baptist. John had been saying that there was a messiah coming to save all the good people. John attracted a lot of followers. Around the time of John saying this, Jesus had come and ask John to baptize him. The gospels state that when Jesus rose from the water, he saw the heavens powers and a white dove over his head. Jesus heard a voice say “ You are the my beloved son and whom I am well pleased. He told the people of Nazareth that he was the messiah, the one they had been waiting for. The people didn't believe them, and began to become very angry at him for joking about being the messiah.

The Christians concept of God is that their God sent his one and only son, Jesus, to save all of the good people in the world. They believe that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and rose from the grave, up to heaven, three days later.
