Life without the Moon
By: Luis Mejia

Without the moon there wouldn't be any tides and eclipses and phases. Why we have phases is because there can be light In the sky. Why there is tides because the moons gravitational pull, pulls on the earths water. Eclipses occur when the moon gets in the earths penumbra. Without the moon there won't be seasons.

Moon Phases

Moon phases are caused by the moons rotation around the earth causing different shapes of the moon. The moon moves in two different ways it revolves around earth and also rotates on its axis. The change relative positions of the moon, earth, and sun cause the phases of the moon. A new moon occurs every 29.5 days then a new moon occurs again. There are a total of 14 moon phases in a month.

Tides are caused by the sun and moons gravitational pull. Tides is when the oceans water is low or high. There also a spring and neap tide. There occurs a tide at every 6 hours. There are a total of 4 tides in a day. The rise and fall of ocean water that occurs every 12.5 hours or so. At any one time on earth, there are two places with high tides and two places with low tides. There is one high tide occurs on the side of the earth that faces the moon, the second high tide occurs in the opposite side of the earth.

Lunar eclipses occur when the moon gets in the earths umbra but there are also partial lunar eclipses. Partial lunar eclipses is when the moon gets in the moons penumbra. A lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, moon, and earth are aligned exactly. An eclipse in which the moon appears darkened as it passes into the earths shadow.

Without the moon there wouldn't be a lot of things like seasons and phases. Without the moon there wouldn't be us neither because the moon causes tides, eclipses, and phases. Without the moon it would also be darker. There would be a little difference between high and low tides and there would be extreme climates.
