Fossil fuels were very important in your everyday life! Coal is made by decayed animals that were formed millions of years ago! We have around 109 years of coal remaining world wide. Half of US electricity is generated by coal Coal is used for electricity for our homes.  The US has produced more than 1 million tons of coal for the last 15 years!  Coal is found in 38 states in the US.Coal is the largest source of energy for the production of electricity. Oil is produced by decayed remains of plants! The US produces the most oil every single day. Texas has the largest oil reserve in the whole US! Oil is used to fuel our cars to get where we want to go very fast! Some oil are used for cooking such as olive oil. The US consumes more than 19.5 million barrels a day! Natural gas is formed by decayed remains of plants. When used to generate electricity, natural gas burns cleaner than other sources. A lot of homes heat their homes with natural gas! Did you know natural gas is lighter than air? When natural gas is cooled to 260 below zero, it changes to gas to liquid. There are more than 2.1 million gas pipe lines across the border of the US. Natural gas is colorless and odorless. the currently 4 million americans employed in the natural gas industry. 90% of chefs rather cook with natural gas.
