Battle Of Gettysburg

The battle took place July 1-3 1863 in and around Gettysburg. The battle had the most casualties of any other battle at over 50,000. The union Maj. Gen. Meade and for the confederates Maj. Gen. Lee was the commander. The union won the battle. The Confederates lost. The landscape of the battle was in rolling farmland and steep rocky hills. This battle was a turning point in the war. Gen. Lee tried to retreat but was cut off. When gen. Lee tried to charge 12,500 which would be known as picket charge. The confederates were all killed.
