James Meredith

James Meredith was born on June 25, 1933, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He is best known for becoming the first black student to go to Ole Miss, which was an all white college. He spent 9 years in the army air force and served as a domestic ad-visor to US senator Jesse Helms.

He got a degree in political science at Ole Miss, a masters degree in economics at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, and a law degree from Columbia University. Meredith filed a suit alleging discrimination and the case made its way to the Supreme Court, which ruled in his favor. I think that he is confident to do what is right, compassionate about learning, and determined to succeed.
