My Food Chain by: Michael Napolitano
All food chains start with the sun. The energy from the sun travels to the grass which helps make it grow. The grasshopper is a herbivore so that means that it only eats plants and it gets it's energy from the grass. The snake eats the grasshopper which means it's a carnivore. The snake gets it's energy from the grasshopper. The hawk eats the snake which means that it's a carnivore. That means the hawk gets it's energy from the hawk. When the hawk dies the fungi breaks it down. The nutrients from the hawk turns into food for the grass and the food chain starts over.
