William Shakespeare

1564-1616

Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom

Description

William Shakespeare was born in the year of 1564. He was born and raised in Stratford-Upon-Avon, United Kingdom. After graduating college, he went to King Edward IV school. He later married his wife Anne Hathaway, and had three children. He retired at Stratford at age 49, then died three years later. Thought his life was fairly short, he had a very successful life in poetry.

William Shakespeare was and still is known as the greatest poet there is. He was greatly inspired by other great writers at the time. Although he did go to college, it didn't have many classes on Latin literature, so he had to learn on his own. He went to London after he was married for several years to write and continue his career of writing. His earliest writings were mainly comedies, but later in his life he wrote more of tragedy poems. He was a great writer in his time, but he inspires even more people known with his writings.

Blow, Blow, thou winter wind

By: William Shakespeare

Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
