S.U.P Yoga style

It may seem a no brainer to some, but for those of you who know me, you're sure to remember my irrational fear of water; more specifically my fear of going under and not being able to surface. So it may surprise more than a few, that I challenged myself this summer to a new skill-Stand Up Paddleboard (S.U.P.) Yoga. What started out as a simple lesson on a wonderfully calm, waist deep lake in the Cleveland Metroparks, ended on a rocky, wave- laden, over-the-head, Lake Erie! Talk about rockin' my world! As a yogini of many years, I did go into class with that benefit; but never did I think I would re-learn the beauty of the poses, the freedom and challenge of moving my body in a whole new way, and experience a peace and calm that can only be described as pure bliss. The confidence I gained helped me overlook my fears and realize that I am in control-I always have been; I just had to reach deep and pull it out. Baby steps. As my good friend, Mary Beth Tweardy wrote, 'Yoga can tell us, we don't need to tell it." I'm so glad yoga is talking to me.
