Properties of Matter
Magnetism- attracted to a magnet.
Solubility- can dissolve in water.
Mass- How much matter there is in something.
Volume- the amount of space an object or substance takes up.
a body's relative mass or the quantity of matter contained by it, giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a person or thing.
Density- the degree of compactness of a substance.
Buoyancy means to be able to float in fluid or gas. It is how light something is as compared to something else. A balloon filled with helium is lighter than air, so it floats.
Conduct- allow heat to flow through them easily.
Insulate- the opposite of letting heat flow through easily.
the three traditional states of matter are solids (fixed shape and volume) and liquids (fixed volume and shaped by the container) and gases (filling the container); "the solid state of water is called ice"
The temperature at which a solid turns into a liquid. It is equal to the freezing point
The temperature at which a liquid boils and turns to vapor.
The temperature at which a liquid turns into a solid when cooled.
