Biotic Factors

Abiotic Factors

Carrying Capacity

the number of people, other living organisms, or crops that a region can support without environmental degradation.

ex: food,water,sun,shelter

change in population

All habitat needs food, water, and shelter to survive. For example, a change in the community could be that the seals population decrease causing a lot of sharks to die off, but once the sharks die off more seals would live and the population will go back up.

Limiting Factors

an environmental factor that tends to limit population size.

ex: tempature, sunlight,pressure,oxygen

predator/prey relationship

sharks eat seals, but if seals don't get enough food and water they will die and the sharks population would decrease because they wont have any food to eat. Or if the shark does not get the food they need they would die and the seals population will increase.

Energy Rules

an organism, either a green plant or bacterium, which is part of the first level of a food chain.

ex: seaweed

animal that gets its energy from eating plants, and only plants

an animal or person that eats food of both plant and animal

ex: shark

an animal/people that eat meat

ex: people (minus vegetarians)
