Sports Management

A sports manager is an executive who has overall responsibility for managing both the revenue and cost elements of a teams's income statement. Sports management is a field of education concerning the business aspects of sports and recreation. They may negotiate with a play about their contract. Sports manager oversees all the activities including the finance and marketing aspect of a team. Making important decisions is also part of the role of a sports manager.

The abilities a General Manager must posses are being able to balance the perspectives of all of his or her direct reports, solid and dotted line.They should be able to speak publicly on behalf of athletes and athletic organizations, as well as be discreet in their personal lives so they do not attract negative media attention. sport managers need to be confident in their ability to weigh pros and cons in a timely fashion. The decisions they make should be based on ethics and morality in sport management.

A sports management major can differentiate based on your education: Associate's degree programs, which provide entry-level opportunity, usually take two years. A bachelor's degree program takes four years. Master's degree programs and MBAs generally require one to two years. Texas A&M prepares students for a career in sports, from program directors, to marketing and promotions, corporate sales, sporting goods, community programs, athletic directors and business managers and agents.

You can expect to earn around $28,360 when you first start. Mid-level positions can get  around $50,000 per year, while upper-level positions can earn more than $100,000 annually

It is very hard to become a sports manager because of the ratio of sports management jobs to applicants, competition will be fierce for employment within the industry. You'll find yourself in competition with business majors, communications majors and law students all dying  for the chance to have a "sporting life." It has a long future, because sports managers help keep the sports alive. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicted a job growth in sports management through 2022.

If you can't find work as a sports manager then a similar job is an agent. They manage the contract of their client to make sure all his needs are enforced.

I have always had a love for sports, and as a sports manager I can stay in touch with sports throughout my life. I believe I am good for this job because I always work hard to do the things I need to do in life to succeed. It has been my dream to manage my own professional team since I was little. As a sports manager I can finally complete my dream.
