She opened her first shop, "Paris’s Rue Cambon" in 1910. She started out selling hats and later added stores (in various locations throughout Paris) where she began making clothes. In the 1920s, Chanel expanded her business greatly by launching her first perfume, Chanel No. 5. In 1925, she introduced the Chanel suit with collarless jacket and well-fitted skirt. Another 1920's design was Chanel’s little black dress.~Rather than using more fabric, Chanel used beads and embroidery to decorate her clothes.
Coco Chanel, originally known as Gabrielle Chanel, was a fantastic fashion designer as well as a business woman. She was born on August 19, 1883 in France. Coco's parents are Eugénie Jeanne Devolle and Albert Chanel. She has 2 sisters , and 3 brothers; Julia, Antoinette, Alphonse, Augustin, and Lucien Chanel. She is famous for her timeless designs, trademark suits, and little black dresses. She opened her first shop in 1910. When she first started designing she started out only selling hats. After hats she began to make clothes, which included suits, jackets, pajamas, dresses and more! Soon after that she came out with perfume and purses.
This smoking, outspoken woman never married - although she had relations with the English industrialist Arthur "Boy" Capel - who lent her the money to buy Rue Cambon - Igor Stravinsky and the second Duke of Westminster Hugh "Bender" Grosvenor, the richest man in Europe.
