Agents of Socialization
Growing up as a child, most of my childhood was spent in one of three places. If I wasn't at school, I was most likely at the ice rink. If I wasn't there, I was most likely with my family. My family helped me learn the basics in life. How to survive, act in public, and socialize to a certain extent. When I was around three my father and sister introduced me to figure skating (video below), and I am still doing it fifteen years later. This sport helped me learn how to socialize with others and to keep trying when I am faced with something difficult.
As a child I had abnormally large tonsils and adenoids, which were removed when I was three. Before that, I was never able to properly form words or sentences. My education started at Stony Brook for preschool, where I learned to properly talk. The following year I started Kindergarten at Blacklick Elementary School. I established the basis for reading, writing, and math. I kept building up these skills through out Elementary school and then started classes at GMSS, then GLHS. Now here I am as a Senior, looking to continue my education at OSU Newark.
Grupos de Pares
I've always found my friends to be one of the most important aspects of my life. They have taught me patience and trust, and how beneficial they can be. They have taught me to never give up, even when I don't think I can go on doing something. In skating, they have always helped push me to be the best I can be. They're always there to support me and cheer me on. My other friends are the same. Everyday they make me want to work harder and be the best person I can be.
Media today can persuade a person in many ways. It has helped me figure out what I want in life though. I want to make a change, and I want to help people. I'll read articles about schools or special needs children and it makes me want to help out. Music has also helped socialize me because I can learn so much from it. There's songs about anything and everything, and if you actually listen to some of the songs you can find out about so many things going on in the world. Music has also helped me connect with friends. I'll find out someone listens to the same kind of music and start talking to them, then the next thing I know we're hanging out and having fun.
