5 Things That Will Motivate Your Workouts

1. Cute workout gear

Let's face it. How you look reflects how you feel...so if you're trying to get fit wearing old t-shirts and shorts, you'll likely be less motivated. And you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on workout gear. My favorite places to shop are stores like T.J.Maxx and Marshalls, where you can find name brands like Nike, Under Armour and Puma for less.

2. Workout buddies + friends

Working out helps make new friends AND keeps you connected to friends already in your life.

You'll meet so many new people working out; I've met some of my best friends in bootcamps and spin classes, and you'll always have something in common!

Working out with current friends gives you an excuse to catch up, be active and have fun together. Having a workout buddy is the best motivation to be consistent.

3. That feeling at the end of your workout

“80% of success is showing up.” – Woody Allen

One of my favorite instructors loves to tell us "you never regret working out." And it's true. When it's over, you walk out freshly energized and feeling great. The only regret you'll have is not going in the first place.

4. Noticing a change

Working out makes you feel different, but let's be honest, most of us are trying to look different. When you're consistent with your training, your body starts to change, and although it might be subtle, you'll notice, and those around you will notice too.

5. Getting out of your comfort zone

I live in Cleveland, and well, the weather sucks in the winter. Most recently, we had our 5th winter storm that caused many fitness-goers to stay indoors. Somehow I made it to my spin class that night, and because so many people didn't show up for the class after mine, they offered me the second class for free. My first thought: oh boy, not sure if I can handle two of these tough spin classes. My second thought: I won't know until I try.

Guess what? I did it. And I rocked it. You can too.

You don't know what you're capable of...until you try.
