The Solution to Overpopulation

The Problem

"It's highly likely we'll see 9.6 billion Earthlings by 2050, and up to 11 billion or more by 2100."-Science

Our planet is becoming over populated, and with a limited amount of resources, and agricultural and urban advancements not keeping up with the growing amount of people in the world. Before we run out of the tools we need to survive, we need to plan to solve for overpopulation.

What Has Been Done

Limited Child Policy-China

Limited Child Policy is a government-imposed limit of one to two children allowed per family or the payment of government subsidies only to the first two children. It is used for some population groups in China, has previously been used in Vietnam, and has also highly encouraged to have two children as a limit, and it was used as part of the region's family planning strategies.

As we all know, Adolf Hitler believed that the population of "imperfect" people was growing to high, so he killed them off in concentration camps, causing one of the worst crimes against humanity ever.

For The Future

The overall "solution" to human overpopulation is quite complicated. However, the most ethical thing would be to do nothing! Though it may seem not very effective, when populations increase, so does the rate at which infectious agents can spread. Eventually, a new disease will arise, like NDM-1 in India, that will wipe out a large portion of the quickly rising population! Over time, our expected population will reach its carrying capacity and the problem of overpopulation will cease to be a problem.
