1. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm soapy water

2. You should wash ALL fruits and vegetables

3. Wash your hands after handling pets, using the restroom, and blowing your nose

4. Do not wash meat and poultry before cooking it


1. Separate raw meats and fresh produce in your shopping cart

2. Use different cutting boards for meats and vegetables

3. Get rid of cutting boards that have groves or are worn

4. Do not put cooked meat back on the same plate it was on when it was raw


1. You cook foods to different temperatures to kill bacteria

2. The only way to know if meat is completely cooked is to use a meat thermometer

3. Reheat leftovers to 165 degrees throughout

4. Eggs are cooked when the whites and yolks are firm


1. Food should be refrigerated within two hours

2. The danger zone is between 41 and 140 degrees

3. Leftovers should only be kept three to four days

4. Placing frozen foods in the refrigerator is the best way to defrost them
