Her Childhood

      Beyonce grew up in Tennessee with her siblings in a poor house. She had a fairly normal childhood, she once had stated, "Growing up in Houston was fun. We always had a huge backyard to play in. My mom allowed my friends to come over all the time; it was like a continuous sleepover at our house." Beyonce was never unsettled with her living. She went to St. Mary's Elementary school as a child, and always had a great talent for singing. Beyonce worked incredibly hard developing her raw talent.

People Who Influenced Beyonce's Life

      Beyonce had quite a few inspirational characters in her life. Her father, Mathew Knowles, embraced their racial heritage and encouraged her through his words. Her mother, Tina Knowles, supported her to do the best of her ability, and taught her to never give up. Her friends also truly helped her in any hard times, and were always there for her, especially her husband Jay-Z(Shawn Corey Carter). He supported her in every way.

  • Beyonce has been given more then 7 different awards.
  • All of her fame was introduced from a talent show when she was in elementary school.
  • The first musical group she was in was called Girl's Tyme, which was later called Destiny's child. She later decided to go off on her own.
  • Beyonce has been in a couple different commercials including Pepsi.
  • She was given the Outstanding Female Artist award of 2009.


Beyonce developed musical skills at a very young age. She became a soloist in a church choir as a child as well. She was the lead singer of an all girls group called Destiny's Child, which formed in 1998. One of Beyoncé's albums got number 6 on the popular charts it's first week out.

She strived to be an encourager. "Basically my message is for kids and young girls to love themselves and not listen to all the negativity in the world," she quoted. Also, "a lot of people don't have an concept of how many sacrifices we have to make. You have to accept it, because if you don't, you won't last." Her words inspired many.
