Research Grant Benefits for Business
Research grant are non repayable funds disbursed by one grant makers, it is often a government department, corporation, educational institution, business or an individual. In order to receive a grant people write a proposal or an application it is usually required.
Most grants are made to fund a specific project and require some level of compliance and reporting. Other grants can be given to an individual who seeks to open a small business.
If you are having a small business and it is engaged in scientific research and development (R&D), you may qualify for federal grants under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. They are encouraging small business to undertake R&D projects that meet federal R&D objectives and have high potential for commercialization.
An Ontario Scientist is open to apply for funding for research with partners in Israel. The fund supports research in:
- Bio-economy and clean technologies
- Advance health technologies
- Pharmaceutical research and manufacturing
- Digital media and Information and Communication Technologies
Israeli partners are also eligible to receive funding through the Government of the State of Israel.
Special emphasis is given to high tech companies and R&D funding activities. The State of Israel encourages both local and foreign investment by offering a wide range of incentives and benefits to investors in industry, tourism and real estate.
The R&D fund is the main instruments of the R&D Law. It supports R&D projects of Israeli companies by offering conditional grants up to 50% of the approved R&D expenditure. It also gives grants to Approved R&D Programs, which are programs one or more years, resulting in the development of a new product or in a significant improvement to an existing product. The development may also lead to a new industrial process or to a significant improvement in an existing industrial process. And, if the project is commercially successful, the company will be under an obligation to repay the grant by royalty payments.
The Office of Chief Scientist (OCS) provides a selection of incentives and benefits for Israel R&D. In order to complement the revised Law for the Encouragement of Capital Investments the government has decided to establish an additional program to increase employment in the outlying areas of Israel as well as specific centers with high unemployment. Businesses are eligible to receive grants for employing new immigrants and returning Israelis from the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption’s Center for Absorption in Science
