Many people from Canada were refugees from China during the end of the 20th century. Refugees are people who leave their original country because of war, disaster, or persecution.

Pierre Trudeau was the Prime Minister of Canada during 1968-1979 and also 1980-1984. As a Prime Minister he was the head of government but he also led an effort to get more freedoms for Canadians (to add a charter of rights and freedoms to the Canadian Constitution in 1982)

The main exports from Canada are wood, energy products, pulp and paper products, and metallic mineral products. Exports are goods that are traded with other countries. Imports are the opposite; imports are goods brought into the country. Most of Canada's imports are from the United States.

Canada is mostly made up of two languages. This is also known as bilingual. The two main languages are English and French, among other smaller languages. Francophones are the French-speaking people from Canada. Some French-speaking Canadians are separatists. Separatists are people who want the Quebec, a province of Canada, to be an independent country.
