Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15,1929. He was assassinated in 1968. He grew up to be a very educated man who had great leadership skills. He graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in 1948. Martin Luther King Jr. was a baptist minister, a social activist, and he led the Civil Rights Movement from the mid-1950;s until his assassination. In 1957, Martin Luther King Jr. was elected as President of the Southern Leadership Conference. He gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech on August 28, 1963.

December 10, 1964 : Recieved Nobel Peace Prize.

March 28, 1968 : He led a group of 6,000 protesters in support of striking sanitation in Memphis.

April 4, 1968 : He was shot and killed.
