Consequences of Poor Road Safety Awareness

In 2013, Vancouver island had about 34,440 crashes. A lot of these crashes were most likely from the use of alcohol or texting. Today we have a law for texting while driving and if you get caught you will have to pay a fine. Over 70% of those killed in a crash are men. Approximately 36% of those killed are the teenage drivers themselves. When using a cell phone the risk of crashing is 4 times higher then not using a cell phone. Almost one quarter of fatal crashes involve alcohol.
