~ Similar Figures
In math we have been learning about similar figures. We've learned how to find the size of a similar shape. It is actually easier than it sounds.
How to Find The Size of a Similar Shape.
Lets use the picture below as an example.
Step 1. First of all you have to collect the information that you have. Then you have to see what is is that you have to find which in this case is the width of the large shape.
Step 2. Write down all of your information in a ratio form like the first example under solution. One of the easy ways is to put the width to width and length to length. Replace the blank spot with an X to represent what you are looking for.
Step 3. After you have finished with steps 1 and 2 it is time for the math. You cross muliply and then you will divide.
Step 4. So for this example you multiply 16 by 3 which should give you 48. Then you divide the 48 with the number that is left. In this case the number left is 8. 48 divide by 8 should equal 6. The 6 is the missing width of the large shape which is also your answer.
That is all there is to it. I hope this helped a bit on similar figures.
