Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States. Thomas Jefferson played an important roll in colonial America by coming to prominence in the early parts and stages of the American Revolution. He was also the forefront of the revolutionary movement in Virginia. Thomas also tried to intend to extend the rights enunciated in the declaration for slaves (mainly Negro) but was the owners of slaves were opposed. Thomas Jefferson again played an important role by considering the Constitution insufficiently democratic and he argued that it required a supplementary Bill of Rights. As a delegate to the Continental Congress he drafted the Declaration of independence. Jefferson also later became the third president of the United States and later bought the Louisiana Purchase with France and that resulted in the United States doubling.
