Interior Designer

Job Shadowing Project, Spring 2014

Interior design combines knowledge of both engineering and art. Not only must interior designers be able to work with colors, fabric, and furniture, they also must know materials, budgeting skills, and communication skills. Interior designers oversee the installation and maintenance of all objects that define a space. They read blueprints and work with architects, and they must be willing to put their client’s wishes before their own. Employment in interior design is expected to rise in the next decade due to growing homeowner wealth and an increasing interest in design.

"The details are not the details; they make the design." - Charles Eames

There are many misconceptions about interior design. It is much more than just knowing how to decorate a space.
