The Yamato Clan is the birthplace of Japanese politics. Religion played a big role in their society as it blended in with the government. The first emperor of Japan claimed to be from the Yamato Clan. The Yamato's were situated in a rich agricultural area in the 4th century. The Heian period lasted from 794 to 1185 and the capital was moved to Kyoto in 794. During the period, there were new advancements in art and literature again as many novels such as The Tale of Genji was made.
