Description: Down Syndrome is a condition in which genetic material which prevents a child from developing growth, both mentally and physically. One out of 681 people are affected with down syndrome. There more than 400,000 in the U.S. that are affected with down syndrome.
Characteristics: Low muscle tone, flat facial features, upward slanted eyes, abnormally shaped deep crease across palm.
Symptoms: poor muscle, short neck, flattened profile, small head ears and mouth, short hands with short fingers a groove between the first and second toes.

In 1866, John Langdon Down first discovered down syndrome. But he didn't get this information correct. It was in 1959 that down syndrome was considered as a genetic disorder.
The chromosome 21 is defective.
I chose this genetic disorder because I always see children with down syndrome and I always wonder how life would be like if I had down syndrome.
