Apps In The Class

Technology is a way of life, and we need to learn to embrace all that it is worth and its benefits in the classroom. Here, I will go through 5 different apps (for IOS) I found to be extremely educational.

1. Poems By Heart

Poems By Heart from Penguin Classics contains pieces of classic poetry and challenges you to memorize them. Poems By Heart makes it fun, easy, and addictive for students to be able able to memorize and recite poems. It will help students to enjoy them at a deeper level and improve their mind.

2. DragonBox Algebra 12+

DragonBox Algebra 12+ is a-have tool for students that significantly can improve grades and helps students to gain confidence in algebra and mathematics. It's an educational game targets children from the ages of 12 to 17 but children (or adults) of all ages can enjoy it. This app covers the following units: Parentheses, Positive and Negative signs, Addition of Fractions (Common Denominators), Collection of Like Terms, Factorization, and Substitution.

3. WWF Together

Viewers will experience the world’s most amazing and endangered animals all in one app. It is an interactive experience that brings you closer to the stories of many fascinating species and shows you their lives and the work of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) in a way you’ve never seen before.  This app is great for class projects and students of all ages.

4. NOVA Elements

This great science app will help students to understand things like why the periodic table is shaped the way it is, what gives each element its own unique set of properties, or how elements combine to make everyday objects such as the desk they could be sitting in.

5. Questimate

This is an estimation game where the viewers create the questions, and also complete questions created by other users. This is an amazing opportunity for students to feel accountable and a sense of responsibility. There is a wide range of levels for this app- allowing for students of all ages, and all grade levels to participate.
