Clarisse McClellan

That Strange Little Girl

Indirect- insecure/sensitive

When Clarisse and Montag were talking for the first time, she upsets him and immediately apologizes to the fullest extent. Then she worries that Montag did not accept her apology and continues to apologize until Montag clearly tells Clarisse that he is not upset or angry.

Direct- crazy

In the book Montag and Clarisse are having a conversation, and while they are talking, Clarisse constantly changes the subject by asking questions about different topics. This forces Montag to keep changing what he is thinking about and ends up directly calling Clarisse "crazy" before they end up splitting up and the conversation ends.
