Traction Plus by Fiat

The Traction Plus™ is a recently new system developed by FCAgroup. Traction Plus™ is integrated in the two front wheels. It’s an electronic differential lock system which is very useful to overcome special driving conditions like snow, heavy rain and mud.

What this system does is using the ESP and ABS systems to slower the wheel that has lost traction and is slipping. An open differential will only send power to the slipping wheel and due to that the car will come to a standstill. Traction Plus™ slows down the slipping wheel and causes the differential to power the other wheel that otherwise would not get powered due to the open differential construction.

In short: the system is sending power to the wheel with the most grip and is braking the other wheel. The Traction Plus™ system is actually very similar to ESP but it works smoother and works at lower speeds and has several advantages compared to other differential system. Traction Plus™ doesn’t affect the fuel consumption and maintenance costs and is competitively priced.

I personally think this is a very innovative and clever system. The future of safe driving is guaranteed with this type of innovation. Even the worst drivers can be quite assisted in stress situations which will positively affect the average of road accidents.

The traction plus system seems to be a clever system. Because it’s integrated in the front wheels it will be very effective I think. And it’s good that it the wheel sends power to with the most grip and eliminate slipping. This is a system I would like to have on my Fiat when I go on a road trip to surf.
